Proven Neurological Expertise

After hospitalization, many patients require follow-up care in one of our neuro clincs. These clinics primarily focus on brain injury, spinal injury and stroke but also treat patients suffering from multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre’ syndrome, cerebral palsy and West Nile virus.

All our clinics treat new and returning patients. Clinic visits include a thorough assessment which allows physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians to:

• Determine the progress the patient has made
• Provide adjustments to equipment, orthotics or prosthetics
• Fill Baclofen pumps or order urodynamic studies
• Identify and treat medical problems or complications which may have developed since inpatient treatment
• Order diagnostic testing or consultation
• Prevent secondary complications
• Provide referrals to other specialists or programs as needed

Dr. Stuart Yablon directs the Brain Injury Outpatient Clinic that provides follow-up care to reduce disability and facilitate recovery. He also treats people, including multiple sclerosis patients, who have Bacolfen pumps and patients with cerebral palsy. The clinic actively participates in studies which helps researchers and physicians gain knowledge about brain injuries and improve treatment options. Brain Injury patents with persistent headaches are assessed and referred to a specialty center.

Dr. Sam Grissom directs the Spinal Injury Outpatient Clinic and provides treatment for people with Guillain-Barre’ syndrome. He assesses patients to identify secondary complications from spinal injuries, provides treatment when necessary and prevention when possible. Dr. Grissom also participates in research studies intended to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Alyson Jones, Dr. Polk and Dr. Tipton provide care for the Stroke Outpatient Clinic. Drs. Polk and Tipton also treat multiple sclerosis patients in the clinic.

Dr. Art Leis provides diagnostic EMGs for both inpatients and outpatients. He also treats outpatients suffering complications from West Nile virus.

Patients with chronic pain are referred to Dr. Ken Fox at Methodist Spine and Joint Center or Dr. Jeffrey Summers or Dr. Jeffrey Laseter at Methodist Pain Management Center at our East Campus in Flowood.
