Long-Term Care for the Severely Disabled

For some severely disabled patients, continuous skilled clinical support is needed along with maximum assistance with most activities of daily living.

For younger patients not able to return home, finding a facility with the clinical capability and experience needed to address their needs was very difficult. And finding a facility able to address the social needs of younger patients was almost impossible.

So, in 2004, Methodist Rehabilitation Center opened Methodist Specialty Care Center, a 60-bed, all private room, long-term care facility for the younger severely disabled person. The typical resident is someone age 17 to 55.
