JACKSON, Miss.—Carl E. (Gene) Delcomyn of Jackson has joined the Board of Governors of the Wilson Research Foundation, the fundraising arm of Methodist Rehabilitation Center.
The Honorable Judge Ginny Wilson Mounger, chairman of the foundation’s board, said, “Gene has been tremendously successful in business and as a community leader, and he will be a wonderful asset to our mission to support life-changing research and patient care at Methodist.”
Since its formation in 1989, the Wilson Foundation has funded more than $2.1 million in research grants to Methodist’s renowned research program, the Center for Neuroscience and Neurological Recovery.
Delcomyn serves as Senior Executive Vice President of BankPlus. He is affiliated with numerous community development, philanthropic and business organizations, including serving on the board of directors of the Jackson Chamber Partnership, Salvation Army, New Stage Theatre, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Greater Jackson Arts
Council. Delcomyn has served on the Advisory Board of Horne LLP, and he is treasurer of the board for the Mississippi Automobile Manufacturers Association. He is a past chairman of Make-A-Wish of Mississippi, past president of the Jackson Touchdown Club, and a member of the executive board of Boy Scouts of America. Delcomyn and his wife, Bettie,
live in Brandon, Miss., and are members of Pine Lake Baptist Church.
The Wilson Research Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was named for the late Earl R. Wilson, founding chairman of the board of trustees for the hospital, and his wife Martha Lyles Wilson, honoring their decades of service to disabled Mississippians.
Methodist Rehabilitation Center is Mississippi’s only comprehensive rehabilitation hospital and among the premiere neurological rehab centers in the nation.
