FLOWOOD: The Wilson Research Foundation at Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson will host its fourth annual Walk and Roll on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m. at the center’s east campus at One Layfair Drive in Flowood. The event honors past and present patients, current residents and raises funds for the Foundation to help discover ways to recover more abilities after a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury or loss of limb.

Walkers and rollers will also enjoy live music, free food a new carnival section at the event with traditional carnival games, face painting and lots of family fun!

“The Walk and Roll is a great way to honor a loved one or past patient or to support life-changing research at Methodist Rehab,” said Chris Blount, Wilson Research Foundation Director. “The new one-to-three mile walk route weaves in and around Methodist ‘s east campus. Walkers and wheelchair participants of all ages are welcome.”

Proceeds of the event benefit research at Methodist Rehab. “This will help us find better ways to improve walking, use of hands, speaking, swallowing, mood and memory after a stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury. It also helps us provide assistive technologies for better quality of life for the severely disabled persons,” Blount said.

“Even if you cannot attend the Walk on April 6th, you can be a ‘virtual walker’ and make a contribution and encourage others to donate on your page,” says Blount.
