JACKSON, Miss.—Ella Payton, a rehab technician in the brain injury program at Methodist Rehabilitation Center, has been named support services employee of the quarter by the Jackson Hospital.
Payton, a Silver Creek resident, has worked for five years at Methodist Rehab. She is a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
As a rehab technician, Payton helps patients get to appointments on time and also helps some patients get dressed. She’s also been known to give haircuts.
“I just do whatever is needed to help the patient have the best possible experience at the hospital,” she said.
Along with the award, Payton is now eligible to become Methodist Rehab’s employee of the year, selected from among the employees of the quarter.
Payton commutes 60 miles to work each day from Silver Creek. That’s a testament to her dedication, said Gary Coffee, brain injury program director.
“And Ella is always willing to work extra. She’s willing to do anything for patients and their families,” he said. “And one reason all the families love her is that she can provide a smile and encouragement in even the most trying situation.”
