JACKSON, Miss.—The Mississippi Psychological Association has honored a Methodist Rehabilitation Center neuropsychologist for excellence in his field.
Dr. Mark Sherer, director of the neuropsychology department at Methodist Rehab, was awarded the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award for the sustained productivity of superior and significant research in psychology.
Dr. Sherer is a fellow with both the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the American Psychological Association. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation.
He is the principal investigator for two studies on traumatic brain injury and the author of over 100 articles, book chapters and abstracts.
He is also the clinical director of Quest, Methodist Rehab’s community-based treatment program designed to help brain-injured patients become as independent as possible and re-enter the workforce.
Dr. Sherer is a Tuscumbia, Ala., native. He earned his Ph.D., from the University of Alabama in general clinical psychology.
